I hear from a lot of single baby boomers.

The stories they tell me are filled with drama and inexplicable misfortune and yet…they still believe in LOVE.  Against all odds, these wonderful, gifted, precious people hang on to the dream that their TRUE LOVE is out there somewhere….waiting to be found.

If that is you….I believe in you and in your dream. So, dear reader….if you want to know how the Universe can serve you in your search, here are some practical steps:

1.  You have to get clear on what you want. I can’t tell you how many people I talk to have a devil of a time telling me what it is they want in a partner.  Take some time and allow yourself to explore exactly what your life will be like when HE or SHE is here.  Where will you go to eat?  What will you do on Friday nights?  Be detailed.  Dream.  Create an your ideal relationship and write it down.  The Law of Attraction is waiting for you to get clear on what you want!

2.  You have to take action. Being honest with yourself about your fears and doubts about creating a sustainable relationship is crucial.  Sometimes it is painful to let your desires have full expression.  The fear that it might not happen can squelch your power to attract the very thing you so desperately desire.  There are countless tools available to address past disappointments.  Try using Google.  Type:  “How can I get over my past relationships so I can meet my soul mate?” into the search window.  You will be amazed at the resources that are available to you.

3.  You have to get out of your house. Join something.  Anything.  I am currently going to a wonderful meditation class weekly.  The people there are an interesting crowd.  It is small, usually no more than 7 or 8 people but the connections are sweet and soul satisfying.  Today, one woman was cleaning up and purging a lot of her stuff…another woman there needed the EXACT stuff she was getting rid of.  An exchange of phone numbers followed.  One woman’s trash…..anothers treasure!  You never know who you will meet when you choose to go somewhere.  Could your soul mate be there?  Maybe.  Or could be someone there has a brother or cousin who is your next contact.

4.  You have to embrace exploration and experiment with who crosses your path. I had a fabulous conversation with Siona van Dyjk about on line dating.  She had such a refreshing perspective.  She loves the on line dating experience because it allowed her to explore the dating landscape.  She set up simple coffee dates and used the meetings to pick men’s brains about their take on the whole dating scene.  She didn’t need the prospects to be “The One.”  In fact, when that element was taken off the table, she genuinely enjoyed the men she met!  Now she is engaged.  Sweet.  To hear the interview, click here: http://www.attractyoursoulmatenow.com/siona-van-dyjk-interview/

5.  Just Do It. The Universe…Source….Divine….whatever you call that which is undefinable, is waiting for you to ask.  Create a journal just for asking for what you want.  Don’t worry about your wording.  Don’t try to be perfect.  Just write from your heart.  Tell the Universe what you want and be clear and precise.  Amazing things happen when you get specific and let yourself want what you want.  I believe that when a vision for your future comes into your mind that you have the creative power to make that happen.  Stay true to those desires and follow your intuitive leanings.  Get out and meet people.  Stay focused on what you desire and be alert to the “coincidences” that are sure to follow.

There you have it.  The desire of your heart is leading you surely and steadily to an amazing series of events that will delight you. If you end up at a rest stop now and then, that is ok.  Just make sure to get back out there as soon as you are ready!  There is some real magic available…just you wait and see!

If the Law of Attraction really works, then why in the world would you keep attracting men who are no good for you?

I’ll tell you why.

LOW SELF ESTEEM is ridiculously attractive. Like a powerful inner magnet, your low opinion of yourself sends invisible waves of energy that broadcast to the world like a “Kick Me” sign taped to your back.

There is some good news here, though.  Low self esteem is just a habit. You heard me right…a habit.  It is a habit of THOUGHT.  A belief is created by thinking a thought over and over and over again.  Pretty soon you don’t even know you are thinking the thought.  Before you know it, you truly believe you are NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

When you BELIEVE you are NOT GOOD ENOUGH, you do the stupidest stuff imaginable to make other people like you.  How is that working for you?

You are the ONLY PERSON who can change your SELF ESTEEM.  It is possible.  The key is to take action and change your thoughts.

“I can’t change my thoughts….they keep running through my brain and I can’t control them!”  I hear you and I have one thing to say.  BULS–T!  To change your thoughts you only need to do ONE SIMPLE thing.  Make a decision.

Make a decision to CHANGE your LIFE.  You want LOVE?  Prove it! You are an amazing human being.  You have made it through a lot of really tough times and you are still here.  Maybe your family misunderstands you and maybe you have had a few hard breakups.  But you are still here and you ARE amazing. If you don’t believe that, you can change it.

And now, here is a word from Abraham:

We don’t want you to ask for the security that comes from physical promises from physical humans.

We want your security to come to you from your knowing. We want your awareness of security to be that you know the laws of the universe work, you know how to focus, you know that this positive focus that you offer will always bring you good things.

Don’t try to see so far down the road. Just see what is, and look for the good things, don’tdemand that promises be made that give you security. This is the thing that makes the difference between someone who can stand where they are, in an attitude of belief and trust, some call it faith, but some don’t like the word faith, because faith feels like be happy even though you have no evidence of being happy.

We want to acknowledge to yourself that you have much evidence that supports the power of positive thought. So just chill out.

Don’t try to figure it all out at once. The mantra we want you to offer over the next few days is:

“I’ll figure it out as I go”…

“Look how well I’m doing”…

“The Universe adores me”…

“The Universe is yielding to me”…

“There is not a reason for me to worry”…
“When I worry its patterns of old thought”…

“That has nothing to do with my current reality”…

You’re doing extremely well!

Every now and then a bible scripture comes back to me at just the right time. One of these is “God places the lonely in families.”  I don’t remember where it is exactly but I do remember when I read it for the first time.

I was going through a particularly difficult time and living in a city with no immediate family, I was pretty lonely. I had found  a local bible study group, can’t tell you how I even heard about it, I just began attending.  What I found there were people who were kind to me, very kind to me.

I enjoyed the bible back then, as much as I enjoy reading Abraham Hicks today. I remember having the identical passion over the ahas I got while reading.

“God places the lonely in families.” No wonder that one still feels good.  Especially to those of us who grew up in stressed families.   Do you have a challenging relationship with a family member?

There is a very good chance there is someone in your life right now who is the same age as that person who is treating you awfully nice right now. Before you make too quick a judgment….look over your acquaintances right now and check it out.

Over the years I have had women come and go who have stood in the place of female family members. Sometimes there is no hardship in the family at all, sometimes it is simply geography that is in the way.

Right now I have managed to attract a woman named Joanne who makes me feel loved and accepted in a deep way. Very deep for how short of a time we have known each other.

She welcomes my ideas and my perspective with respect and curiosity and that feels wonderful.  She is my mom’s age.  She brings me what I don’t get from my mom.

I am glad for the parade of women who have passed through my life over the last ten years. If you are reading this and you know you are one of them….I appreciate you more than you know.  Who knows why some relationships are fleeting.

It doesn’t really matter why they come together quickly and dissolve without warning.  There is something important in each connection, no matter how short.

It really is a gift when you find someone you get along with easily. Enjoy the living tar out of it.  Hold it lightly and be kind to that person, chances are there is a family member of their own that is a hard one.

I have seen time and again that indeed I AM placed in families and you know what? It is the times I need a family the most that the right people always show up.  Did I mention that my mom’s name is Joan?  I know the Universe is getting a big kick out of that one!

You look hot and you know it. New shoes, new makeup, new dress. Mani and Pedi with hot wax treatment. You spend the extra twenty minutes to look just right. You walk out to living room and he says:

“We‘re late, are you finally ready?”

What?

Isn’t this the same man who told you how beautiful you are every time you went anywhere, even to Home Depot? Do you miss his compliments? Do you miss how he used to look at you?

It is not unusual for your man to fall into a flow of day to day life where your appearance is not the most important thing to him. Try not to assume anything or read anything into his misstep.

Instead, take some action and get yourself noticed! One of my client’s mantras is “Why is it always up to the women?” I know, I know, but think of it this way. He doesn’t know how much this is bothering you so you need to let him know. When you can start to get compliments from other people and enjoy them, the pressure is off of him to be your sole provider!

Meanwhile, here are three action steps that will get you into the flow of compliments that are already all around you:

1. Ask for compliments. This is a radical idea, not for the faint of spiritual heart. Start your day asking the Universe, the Divine or whatever you call your higher power to send you people who will compliment you. The Law of Attraction LOVES an assignment like this. You ask and then just watch what happens as you go about your business. Try it. Getting compliments always feels terrific and they don’t have to just come from your man!

2. Compliment yourself. This may sound a little loony to you, don’t blame you for that, but it really works. How can we expect compliments from our men when we don’t even appreciate our own looks? Tell yourself how hot you look and do it out loud. Amazing how a week of this will feed your need to feel great about yourself!  Can more romance be far behind?

3. Compliment random strangers. Think how great it feels when someone notices your new haircut or shoes. Plan on complimenting three strangers a day on something you admire. Watch their reaction; see if you catch any delight or self-consciousness.

Think of giving compliments as planting seeds. The more you plant, the more luscious fruit you will reap. After one week of your new complimenting habit, re-evaluate exactly how you want your man to respond to your fashion choices and how you look. Then tell him kindly and directly how his words make you feel. If you don’t need all your complimenting from him, he just may surprise you!

It is amazing what is possible when a woman gets her head and her heart on the same path!

Hi Cat,

I don’t know where to begin !!! But on October 24th, I started going to the swing dance society … remember how much fun I have dancing?

Well, I met a man who was so sweet I asked him to dance with me. The Universe had been at work on all angles and behind the scenes and my life has been completely changed!

OMG, remember how I have been so happy just being single, getting to know me and all that good stuff … I am way beyond that right now and am having the time in my life.

He and I seem to be such a good match so far. Don’t really know where all this leads to but he’s originally from here in Ottawa, but is now retired, living in Kentucky and spends half the time in Colorado, where he works for his nephew for a whitewater rafting/outdoors supplies company, then visits Ottawa once a year.

Cat, I’d never thought this was going to happen so soon, but this man seems to fit the “script” I’ve been writing about!!! The one thing even more interesting is that he is 15 years older than I am and yet we’re at the same intellectual level, spiritually he is way ahead of me as he’s been in that world for over 30 years.

So I have so much to learn yet. He even sings and plays the guitar!!! That’s just a bonus actually, but is so endearing to me in a big way;)

He soooo GETS ME!!! It’s so easy to be with him and we’re just so in tune with each other. We even found out that we lived in each other’s neighbourhoods at different times, so there was really no way for us to meet beforehand … just close enough to even bump into each other at grocery stores!

There’s so much more I would like to share with you … but I am just as high as a kite right now!!!

Yeah, that first kiss was well worth the wait … he’s such a wonderful man and I can’t wait to introduce him to you. I actually gave him the link to the recording that you did for me!!! He’s so interested in my world, my boys seem to be taken too and soon, we’ll be on a different level.

I’m so excited about this whole new adventure … I’ve never felt this way before with any of my ex’s, and I am so lucky to be feeling this way at this stage in my life.

Patience was all I had … I knew that I was getting close. I was refining my list and just before meeting him, I had said to myself that my script was so good and “I am sooo worth it”!!!

We’re so connected at a level no one has ever been with me. He helps me keep grounded, while both of us are feeling so high.
